SDG Namibia One Supports the Hyphen Development

Supporting Namibia’s Participation in Green Hydrogen

SDG Namibia One signed a share-subscription agreement to support the Government of Namibia’s participation in the proposed Hyphen green hydrogen development.

The agreement represents an important step in Namibia’s efforts to participate directly in major renewable-energy and green hydrogen projects while creating long-term national value.

Advancing the Hyphen Development

The proposed Hyphen project is planned for Southern Namibia, near Lüderitz, an area recognised for its strong solar and wind resources and access to Atlantic port infrastructure.

The development is expected to combine large-scale renewable electricity generation with green hydrogen production and the future development of hydrogen derivatives.

Namibia’s national hydrogen strategy supports investment, infrastructure development, employment, technical skills and local industrial value creation.
Building Long-Term National Value

Government participation can help align the project with Namibia’s economic, environmental and industrial priorities.

The wider objective is to ensure that green hydrogen development supports local skills, infrastructure, employment opportunities and Namibia’s participation in regional and international clean-energy markets.

Namibia’s strategy is designed to connect renewable electricity, water treatment, electrolysis, industrial processing, storage, transport and export infrastructure within a complete value chain.
